Shields & Damage

Monsters on Grimhollow hit hard, so armour and a good shield matter.

Raise your shield (right-click) to block. Two shield stats matter:

  • Block: how much of each hit the shield stops while you’re blocking. You still take the rest.
  • Block chance: the chance to fully block a hit. Better shields have more. This only works while the shield is raised and the hit comes from the front. It’s capped at 20%.
Shield Rarity Block Block chance Durability
Vanilla shield — 15% — 336
Cleric Shield Common 20% 1% 400
Skeleton Shield Common 20% — 400
Runic Shield Rare 30% 2% 700
Frostbite Shield Epic 40% 3% 1,000
Heart of the Sea Shield Epic 40% 3% 1,000
Galaxy Shield Legendary 50% 8% 1,400
Nebula Shield Legendary 50% 4% 1,400
Malakor’s Aegis Unknown 60% 7% 1,800
Rimefang’s Guard Unknown 60% 7% 1,800
Shelly’s Shell Unknown 60% 7% 1,800

Honing raises a shield’s block chance a little, up to +15% of its base at +10. Some shields also have their own ability (Weapons).

Armour and toughness reduce damage the same way as in vanilla. Custom armour also adds health, and full sets give set bonuses (Armour Sets).

Custom monsters hit harder than vanilla ones, elites hit much harder, and bosses have their own abilities. The server runs on Hard difficulty. Health for every monster is on Mobs, Elites and Bosses.

  • Critical hits come from your gear’s crit chance and crit damage. Vanilla jump crits are off.
  • Damage numbers pop up when you hit something (only you see them).
  • Abilities usually deal a % of your Attack Damage, so they grow when you hone your weapon.
